Our Story
Cottonwood Farm was born out of a love for this country property, a love for educating children, and a love for the good old days our our youth!
Owners Michael and Lisa Howard have been in education for over 20 years. Lisa has a Texas teaching certificate and a degree in Earth Science. She has over 10 years of experience in Wylie, Plano, and McKinney ISD's, as well as 10 years experience as a summer camp counselor, museum counselor, and a preschool teacher. Michael also has a Texas teaching certificate and a Geology degree. He has experience in the Plano ISD and is currently working in the corporate world in the field of online education. Michael is an accomplished carpenter and responsible for the amazing additions to Cottonwood Farm including the chicken coop, garden, treehouse, and bunkhouse.
Of all the experiences Michael and Lisa have had over the years together, none compares to what they have learned raising their four children: John, Sam, Mary, and Grace.
Every Family Has a Story
In 1970, Lisa's parents, Ken and Rita Garrey, moved their family of nine from Minnesota to this home in Cottonwood Acres, in Parker, Texas. Lisa grew up there, married Michael and moved to McKinney to raise their family for the next 20 years. Lisa and Michael always prayed that one day they could live in the country. By God's grace, and His timing, they were finally able to move back and purchase her childhood home and make the dream a reality!
Because they feel that God has blessed them beyond measure, they want to share their place with you! Their hope is that your children will make wonderful memories here at Cottonwood Farm that will last a lifetime!
